Overview
The Environmental +Interior Design: Skills-based Interior Design (SID) certificate curriculum emphasizes the advanced skills and knowledge of interior design for mid-career professionals. Primarily this is refreshment in design software programs, digital presentation techniques, new legislative content (universal design, sustainability), and modern business practices.
The program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis
Courses are offered onsite/online/hybrid depending on the instructor’s pedagogy
All credits can be applied to the BFA or AA programs
The SID certificate alone is not sufficient for graduates to be eligible for licensure without further professional education and experience.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Environmental +Interior Design SID Certificate, students will be able to:
Examine and appraise technical innovations within interior design.
Comprehend and synthesize contemporary aspects of design practice.
Evaluate and articulate the growing social, environmental and ethical impact of design within a global context.

EID-217 Introduction to Computer-aided Design* (3 credits)
EID-312 Presentation Methods (3 credits)
EID-319 Advanced Computer-aided Design (3 credits)
EID-325 Introduction to Lighting Design* (3 credits)
EID-370 Universal Design - Inclusive Environments (4 credits)
EID-384 Sustainability in Design (3 credits)
EID-410 Interior Design Business Principles (3 credits)
* Students would choose either EID-217 or EID-325, depending on their prior knowledge of computer-aided design.
