Data Science, Analytics and Visualization Mission Statement
The mission of Chaminade University's (CUH) Data Science, Analytics and Visualization (DSAV) Program is to develop an ecosystem where Data Science is available and accessible, and to empower individuals and communities to harness Data Science tools and resources to achieve their mission and goals.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed based on the following pillars:
(1) Incorporates Chaminade University's mission and values. More importantly, the value of "care" to self and others.
(2) Growing an individual's self-efficacy or confidence in Data Science by breaking down the barriers and fears of programming, data analytics and statistics, and research.
(3) "S-M-L" 3-step developmental process by transitioning a student (S) into a mentor, mentor (M) into a leader, and a leader (L) that will continue growing the Data Science ecosystem by developing our next generation of leaders.
(4) Data Science is applicable to many disciplines (Example: Art and Visualization, Business, Biology, Computer and Information Sciences, Criminal and Social Justice, Cybersecurity, National Security and Defense, Education, Environment, Economics, Health, Humanities, Marketing and Communication, Political Science, Tourism, Transportation, Utilities, and many more).
(5) Pathways towards graduate school, job, or both
Expose, Embrace, and Elevate
Our students are exposed to project-based, research, and traineeship experiences relevant to their career development during their time with us. From each experience, our students embrace skills, knowledge, and opportunities that can be shared with their peers and collaborators. Our students are expected to elevate their learning and contributions towards the programs they participate in.
